Long-Range Correlations in Stationary Nonequilibrium Systems with Conservative Anisotropic Dynamics

چکیده
We present results of computer studies of the spatial correlations in two nonequilibrium model systems. These are lattice gases on 2' described by (apparently) nonGibbsian probability measures which are stationary with respect to simple, anisotropic, particleconserving stochastic dynamics. The translation-invariant pair correlation functions G(r) are found to decay like a quadrupole field, i.e. for r = (2, U), G(r) (ax2 by2)/r4, over a range of parameter values corresponding to <> in the dynamics. This gives the strongest evidence to date of the generic nature of long-range correlations in conservative anisotropic nonequilibrium systems-in accord with some recent theoretical predictions. Some other properties of these models are also calculated. In particular it is found that, despite the slow decay of the correlations, the fluctuations in particle number look Gaussian.

Power Law Decay of Correlations in Stationary Nonequilibrium Lattice Gases with Conservative Dynamics
We report computer simulations and high-temperature approximations of the pair correlation in a stationary nonequilibrium system, a lattice gas subject to a strong uniform driving field E. The dynamics of the system is given by hoppings of particles to adjacent empty sites with rates biased for jumps in the direction of E. We study the anisotropic short-distance behavior as well as the long-dis...
متن کاملUniversality of Long-Range Correlations in Expansion-Randomization Systems
We study the stochastic dynamics of sequences evolving by single site mutations, segmental duplications, deletions, and random insertions. These processes are relevant for the evolution of genomic DNA. They define a universality class of nonequilibrium 1D expansion-randomization systems with generic stationary long-range correlations in a regime of growing sequence length. We obtain explicitly ...
متن کاملEquilibrium and nonequilibrium properties of systems with long-range interactions
We briefly review some equilibrium and nonequilibrium properties of systems with long-range interactions. Such systems, which are characterized by a potential that weakly decays at large distances, have striking properties at equilibrium, like negative specific heat in the microcanonical ensemble, temperature jumps at first order phase transitions, broken ergodicity. Here, we mainly restrict ou...

We consider a harmonic chain in contact with thermal reservoirs at different temperatures and subject to bulk noises of different types: velocity flips or self-consistent reservoirs. While both systems have the same covariances in the nonequilibrium stationary state (NESS) the measures are very different. We study hydrodynamical scaling, large deviations, fluctuations, and long range correlatio...
متن کاملLong-range correlations in a simple stochastic model of coupled transport
We study coupled transport in the nonequilibrium stationary state of a model consisting of independent random walkers, moving along a one-dimensional channel, which carry a conserved energy-like quantity, with density and temperature gradients imposed by reservoirs at the ends of the channel. In our model, walkers interact with other walkers at the same site by sharing energy at each time step,...
